Trust is the key

No one can please God without faith, for whoever comes to God must have faith that God exists and rewards those who seek him.

Hebrews 11 : 6 (GNB)

Trust and promises form the basis of many key functions of our society. We trust that the police will keep us safe. We trust that our neighbours will not ransack our homes when our backs are turned. We trust physics that aircraft stay in the air.

Even the money in your pocket is essentially a promise. On it you will see a message printed on it saying "we promise to pay the bearer on demand the sum of...".

Without trust these things start to fall apart. Friends who do not trust each other are not really friends. A bank note which a shopkeeper does not trust is worthless. We need trust in our lives in order to function normally as a human being.

It is the same for us and God. A life lived without faith, without trusting in God, is a life without meaning. As we see in our passage this week faith is the key to building a relationship with God. Trusting in him is essential if we want to live lives that are pleasing to him.

We need to understand that as is the case with many things in our lives which we take for granted, God is someone who we need to trust. Even though we cannot see him or understand the way that he operates.

When we have faith in God, and try and build a relationship with him we are promised that we will be rewarded. All you need is a little bit of trust and motivation to seek him. Have a great week.
