Battle plan
Human wisdom, brilliance, insight - they are of no help if the Lord is against you. You can get horses ready for battle, but it is the Lord who gives victory. Proverbs 21 : 30 - 31 (GNB) |
Like most things there are two ways that you could look at this week's passage.
A pessimistic person might say that this is telling us to give up bettering ourselves, stop trying to educate and inform ourselves and just coast through life. They may argue "if God doesn't want something to happen it will fail regardless of how hard we try".
Fortunately we are not pessimists so we have a better way at looking at this passage. If we are working with God and for God he will work with us. In this scenario the outlook is far better. We are told that it is the Lord who brings victory. So therefore being on the Lords side can only be a positive thing.
A key thing that this passage is showing us is that it doesn't really matter how good your battle plan is. The important factor is who is included in it. You might have the most brilliantly thought through scheme imaginable, one that makes use of all the latest and greatest research and wisdom. However as we see in the passage if it is missing God you may as well have not bothered.
We all have plans, wisdom and talents. When we use these with and for God, we can be unstoppable. When we begin to forget him is the point when things start going wrong, without God being onside the possibility of defeat raises its head.
So this week when constructing the battle plans in your life, don't forget to keep a focus on what matters. No matter how big or small a battle may seem, make sure that God is at the forefront of it! Have a great week.
