Seasons
"Everything that happens in this world happens at the time God chooses. He sets the time for birth and the time for death, the time for planting and the time for pulling up, the time for killing and the time for healing, the time for tearing down and the time for building. He sets the time for sorrow and the time for joy, the time for mourning and the time for dancing," Ecclesiastes 3 : 1 - 4 (GNB) |
When God designed our world he never intended for it to remain still. Just look at the rolling seasons, the stars in the sky and even the Earth itself. These things are never standing still, instead they are moving in rhythm keeping in time with God's plans.
Whether we like it or not nothing lasts forever and everything on Earth changes. This is exactly what our passage this week is talking about. This passage lists many examples of different transitions that commonly occur in our lives. Such as the time for planting seeds which leads to the time for harvesting their results. Times for being happy and joyful and times that are sad or sorrowful. For the full list check out Ecclesiastes 3 : 1 - 8.
Change can be scary or daunting. With change comes uncertainty. It is human nature to be wary of the unknown. However change can also bring a whole host of benefits. It can bring new opportunities, new people and new things that you would never have experienced otherwise. God uses transitions or 'seasons' as part of his plan for our lives. It is simply down to us to embrace them.
God has planned a time for everything. We might not always understand his timing, or it might feel hard to adjust but we need to trust that God is in control and knows what he is doing. God is the one thing in the whole universe that never changes. He is the same now as he has been for all of history and all of time to come.
Whatever season you are in at the moment feel confident that it is right for you at this moment, so make the most of it and have a great week!
